The attraction of the village is on the main road, the
OASIS DE LOS CAMELLOS zoo, with dromedaries, horses and donkeys to ride, monkeys and various species of birds to watch, a bar with rustic wooden tables and benches under sunshades made of palm leaves, a nursery garden and a souvenir shop. There is a parrot show every day at 11.00 and 14.00 hrs, though only the tour operators´ coaches are allowed in for these. The zoo is open daily from 9.00 to 19.30 hrs. La Lajita stretches through the Valle de La Lajita and down to the sea - a town in which nearly only local people live. In the large white building, behind carefully tended trees, bushes and lawns, there is a school (1st to 8th grade) for children from the vicinity. |
